Substation Project
Central Texas Substation Build
This project involved building a new substation in central Texas, fed by two 138kV transmission line feeds. The broad scope included adding a new 46.7 MVA power transformer bank, including new distribution breakers, total breaker, tie breaker and related structures. To protect this transformer, the scope included the installation of a 138kV disconnect switch and a 138 kV circuit switcher on the high side. The low-side structure included an A-frame with six distribution bays, including a total breaker, tie-breaker, and four feeder breakers. A pad-mounted 300kVA MTU with IDS, a 50kVA station service transfer, and distribution PT’s and TWACS riser were installed. This complete substation project began with a greenfield. It required our installation of foundations and underground cabling and grounding systems, structural erecting, welding and apparatus installation, final grading and fence work, and relay and SCADA. A new 36 ft. x 24 ft. control house was complete with control panels and all wiring.
