Hurricane Laura was a Category 4 hurricane that devastated most notably southwestern Louisiana, southeast Texas, and parts of Arkansas in August 2020. Front Line, staged in Port Arthur, TX and Lake Charles, LA, working directly with utilities hit the hardest for more than a month to safely restore power to millions of customers where some unimaginable destruction was encountered. While inclement weather is nothing new to Front Line, this mutual aid event was unique as strict COVID protocols added a layer of isolation and unknown health effects outside the inherent dangers of the high voltage industry.
